The department lists its Raleigh service center at 2920 Highwoods Blvd., Suite 300, Raleigh, NC 27604. It accepts walk-ins Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., first come, first served, and recommends appointments. The Durham service center is at 3518 Westgate Drive, Suite 150, Durham, NC 27707.
The Raleigh office moved to Highwoods Boulevard in late 2025. If you saved an older address, check the office locations page before you go.
IRS Taxpayer Assistance Centers.
The IRS asks people to find a center through its office locator and call ahead for an appointment. It warns that arriving more than 15 minutes late without checking in can cancel the appointment.
Follow the agency's own instructions about identification and documents for the visit.
Agency question or preparer question?
A notice about your account belongs with the agency that sent it. Preparing a return, organizing missing records, and planning for next year are preparation and advisory conversations.
If a notice arrives while your return is being prepared, mention the type of notice in your inquiry and keep the notice itself out of the website form. Our page on how the process works explains the first steps.
