A Harnett County town that reaches into Wake County.
Harnett County lists Angier among its five municipalities, and Wake County lists Angier as a municipality whose jurisdiction extends into Wake County.
For property tax records, the county that billed your property is the one that matters. Keep that bill and your payment record together if you plan to discuss itemized deductions, which the IRS describes in Topic 503.
Self-employed in Angier? Listing season starts in January.
North Carolina law sets the regular property listing period from the first business day of January through January 31. Wake County, for example, requires a business listing from anyone who owns, controls, or possesses tangible business personal property on January 1. Harnett County runs its own listing process, so ask the county that taxes your property.
That listing is separate from your income tax return. Our article on business property listing in January explains the difference, and the self-employed records checklist covers the return side.
More time to file, and finishing the return.
An extension can help when a document is late, but it does not extend the time to pay. Read about extension help and extended returns and plan the payment question before the original deadline.
Questions that do not wait for filing season.
A retirement decision, a change in work, or a new source of income can be reviewed during the year. Year-round tax advisory is a separate service from preparing the return.
